What can you expect from the iPhone 7?

Have you watched or read about the release of the iPhone 7? If so, how did you find the new iPhone model? Did you like it or did you not? Let’s take a look at what the iPhone 7 has to offer that will make it worth purchasing. It received a lot of different reactions from people. Some were pleased with the new features and design of the phone, but there were also some who were quite displeased about it. Let’s take a look at why it is so.

  • IT IS WATER RESISTANT. This is completely different from being water PROOF, I believe, but at least, it is a little resistant to water. You won’t have to worry about it excessively now and if you get a waterproof case for yourself, then there’s really nothing much to worry about water at all.
  • IT COMES WITH A BETTER BATTERY LIFE. I am rejoicing because of this! Who likes having to charge their phone every now and then anyway? An estimated 12 hours of LTE browsing.
  • IT HAS A NEW CAMERA. It has the same 12 megapixel camera but they added a larger aperture and an optical image stabilization that will make sure to keep your images steadier. If you take a good look at it, you might notice that the camera sticks out a lot more, which is okay I guess. It’s great to find a protective case that will somehow protect or enclose the camera so it won’t get scratched, but of course, it shouldn’t block the picture taking.
  • Selfie lovers rejoice! The iPhone 7 has a new front facing camera! It also includes an auto-image stabilization. I’m sure you will love it and you’ll be excited to flood people with your selfies on Snapchat and Instagram.
  • A FASTER PROCESSOR. They are efficient and they conserve your battery. Cool.
  • MORE STORAGE! It comes in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage capacities.
  • IT HAS NO EARPHONE JACK. This is the upsetting thing for most people. Instead of earpods or earphones, you get airpods. You just connect it to your phone thru bluetooth, and the life of the airpods are only for 5 hours. You’ll have to charge them again. Not to mention that you can easily lose them since they are wireless.

Well, what do you think about it now that you have seen the iPhone 7? I am excited for it and I really want to see it in person so I might hit the stores later to check if it’s already available. Have you purchased yourself an iPhone 7?

If you are excited for the iPhone 7, I’m sure you’d want to purchase one for yourself the moment it comes out, but would you want to purchase a locked iPhone 7 or the unlocked iPhone 7? To further understand, we will first define the terms so that you can decide as early as now which phone you are going to be aiming for.

What is a locked phone? When you purchase a locked phone, it simply means that the phone comes with a fixed service provider. You can’t change for an agreed duration of years – mostly it is for two years. The good thing about this is that you won’t have to pay too much up front. Since the contract is if two years, you can pay it off slowly like a hundred bucks every month until you reach the final price. Yes, like a lay away. The bad thing about this is that you are stuck with only one service provider for a number of years, or the agreed years. If you like travelling abroad, it would be hard for you since you won’t have service. The service is only available to the areas that are part of the service you chose. You cannot remove the sim card because that would be going against the agreement and you could be fined for it.

Of course, understandably, the unlocked iPhone 7 is the complete opposite of this. You can choose your own service provider and change it any time you want to. It doesn’t limit you in a way. This is great for people who don’t want to be tied down to paying a certain amount every month for years. Sadly, the price to pay to own an unlocked iPhone 7 would be the full price. You have to buy the phone at it’s full original price. You can’t get a discount and that’s a little sad if you currently don’t have the means but you want to purchase a new phone.

Keep in mind that both the locked and the unlocked iPhone 7 both have the same features when it comes to being connected to a wifi. So if you have an application that is able to send messages such as Viber, WhatsApp, Kakao, then you will still be able to use it despite the being locked or unlocked.

Just a little extra information for you! There are two types of “Unlocked”. The first is what we cal the “Factory Unlocked”. This simply means that it was the manufacturer or Apple or Apple’s official technicians who unlocked the phone. The second is what is more known as being “jailbroken”. This one is against the law but still there are a lot of people who are doing this. The iPhones were hacked to be able to open them. A jailbroken iPhone is sometimes also called as “Software Unlocked” so be sure you know these terms and be familiar with them, especially if you are going to be buying your new phone from a  shady place. There are some functions of the iPhone that you cannot access since the phone is jailbroken.

  1. I have to say you make some great point about the Iphone 7.

You have done a great job delivering the right your message on the nice upgrades.

I’ve been a Samsung galaxy user for over 5 years now. I never thought about changing to another company.

After reading your review I am thinking when I get an upgrade I should consider the Iphone 7. The features you have outline has made it very difficult for me to refute.

    Nice article!

    And thanks for the review.

    1. Thanks Garrick I am glad to help. I like the Samsung phones because I had one before but since I got an iPhone I never looked back. It just something about iPhones lol. Now that the iPhone 7 is out everyone either wants one or bashing it. Thats just how it has always been and will continue to be.

  2. Hi,

You had me at battery life. lol. I almost don’t really believe that it has an estimated battery life of 12 hours of LTE browsing life. That seems crazy to me.

My 6 barely lasts 12 hours when I’m not even browsing or using it at all. That has to be the biggest complaint about all iphones. The batter life sucks. Not only does it suck but it only gets worse as the phone ages and uses up more gigs.

I guess we should be happy that they are choosing to go with a smaller phone rather than putting out a huge phone with great battery life. It’s a better option but wow would it ever be great to have both.

    1. Hey Robert.

The battery life for the iPhone 7 really is amazing lol. It may be hard to believe at first. We all know Apple has some of the best products around. I am not surprised at all. The battery being one of the biggest complaints, they probably felt the pressure of increasing this for the user in the latest phone. I can only see their products getting better with time.

  3. Hi,
Thanks for sharing. I do want my iphone back. I don’t know why I changed before. I sure hate the two year contract with provider.

I want to get an iphone but we will have to see what the price will be. I don’t want to pay the phone off monthly because the phone bill is expensive in my opinion.

I can’t wait until my contract is up in 3 months because were choosing a no contract deal. Hopefully, we can find a iphone we like. Maybe they will have a promotion.

In terms of no service, it might be a good thing. There is too much technology these days and we have been dependent to them as our lifeline and without it we feel lost.

Thanks for explaining locked and unlocked and legal and illegal phones.

    1. Hey Sofia.

I am glad to help. I feel you on the two year contract thing. It really is not fun being committed to one phone for two years lol. Buying the retail may not be a bad idea.

I sure hope you get the phone that you want though and I hope it is the latest iPhone of course.

  4. I enjoy and appreciate the cool, clean look to this site and thanks for that info. Paying for one of those unlocked must be quite expensive. How would it compare to buying it locked? Also you are asking at the end of article if we are going to buy next year. It is already out right?

    1. Thanks Andrew,

I put a lot of work in the content and appearance of the site. It is expensive to buy it unlocked, I think for right now it is over $800 and that is for a 32GB. It goes up as the GBs increases. As for a locked iPhone 7 it is over $600 and the locked iPhone 7 plus is over $700.

  5. I used to work for Tmobile as a customer service rep but I guess I never really understood the phone unlocking thing. It seems like such a hard thing to get the unlock code for when you leave a company to go to another one and use your new phone. So I dont bother with it. So getting it unlocked from the company sounds great. I have to check this out. Thanks

    1. I am not an expert in this at all myself. I think the main thing about getting the iPhone 7 unlocked is that they can just go to which ever carrier they want to when they want to and not feel the need to be locked in with a company at all.

  6. What a great review. I was sitting on the fence on whether I should upgrade my iPhone 5 to a 7. However, your wise words have convinced me to make the leap. You also allowed me to be grateful for the fact that I live in a country (Australia) where Apple sells their unlocked phones immediately to the public. I also have to admit that I am excited by the new iPhone (that is thanks to your review) in particular the airpods as the cord of my headphones always annoy me when I am running.

    1. There are tons of people who sits on the fence debating about jumping. They really want someone else to test before they do and tell them their opinion about it. I am glad you think so highly of my post. I think the airpods are one of the best features of the iPhone 7 myself. They sure will not get in the way of your running.

  7. Great info about the iPhone 7. I was wondering what they changed from the 6S. Now I know.

I am not too put off by the lack of a headphone jack. I use bluetooth headphones with my phone now, so it’s no big deal. Now if they start making the iPad with no headphone jack, that might be a problem.

Is it really against the law to jailbreak and iPhone, or is it just something Apple and service providers don’t like you to do? I always thought it was the latter.

    1. I am glad that you asked because someone may not know that jailbreaking is actually legal through 2015 through the copyright act. What is illegal though is if you unlock your phone through a 3rd party. So jailbreaking is safe Andy.

  8. Can you believe it the iPhone 7 is already here. And it is waterproof, which is a great thing for those people who need to stop dropping their phones in the toilet or sink accidentally, or like my son who jumps in the pool with his in his pocket. 12 hours of battery life ain’t too shabby either. There is a 12 megapixel camera with image stabilizers to keep those images from bouncing all around while you are trying to take the pic and a front facing camera for those selfie lovers. It processes faster! Who doesn’t want that? It comes in 32, 128 or 256 GB of storage, so you know it has plenty of storage to meet your needs. The only drawback is no headphone jack, you can only listen to phones through bluetooth.

    1. It rocks! iPhone just keeps getting better and better. About the drawback that you mention earlier, the headphone jack may be gone but there is a cable so that you can be able to use your headphones if you would like to do that.

  9. You highlight the benefits of an iphone 7 very well in this article – personally i have just upgraded to a samsung s7 as im used to the samsung operating system, but the benefits of the iphone 7 that you state here are clear and concise – thanks for the review.

  10. I have been debating getting the iphone 7 when my 6s contract is fulfilled. I love my 6s right now especially with the self-charging FRE LifeProof case. The additional battery life and Bluetooth airpods are definitely a PLUS in my book. Thank you for explaining and outlining options regarding LOCKED and UNLOCKED phones. As I mentioned above, I have been doing the payment plan with my 6s, but not again my friend. Thank you again for the 411 on iphone 7–can’t wait to upgrade!

    1. No problem Shawna. There is always a debate with self regarding getting the lastest iPhone. I have it all the times but not only that friends also want to debate with you if you know what I mean lol.
